Deccan Aviation on Thursday said it will offer “heli-shuttle” service from Devanahalli airport to the city centre as well as to the Electronic city from March 30, the day the new Bangalore International Airport opens.
Deccan’s chief Capt G R Gopinath said his company would press into service two helicopters to ferry passengers to and fro from the two points to the airport.
While at the city, the choppers would land and take off from the helipad at UB City, the company is yet to identify an open ground for the same purpose at Electronic City. Capt Gopinath said though his company has not made any market survey of the potential for the chopper service, his gut feeling was that there would be enough passenger traffic to run the ‘heli-shuttle’.
“It takes about three hours to go from Electronic City areas like Banaswadi, Koramangala and even Jayanagar and hence we thought the time conscious corporates and top-end investors may opt for this service,” he added.
On the check-in, he said initially, Deccan and Kingfisher would have one check-in counter where any passenger of the two airlines can check-in. Such counters would later be extended in different parts of the city, he added.
