Service robots are the in thing today in Japan, owing to the countrys deep-seated aversion to immigration, its chronic shortage of affordable day care and Japanese women's increasing rejection of motherhood.

The Deep Space Network set up near Bangalore is readying itself for the much awaited moon mission in April. Deep space tracking will be initiated this week, signalling readiness of the network. Jayalakshmi K reports.
Wandering out of the wild  
One of the major threats facing elephants is the shrinking and fragmentation of their habitat. With encroachments on forest lands on the rise, the country has been witnessing elephant-human clashes. Reports of pachyderms dying of bullet shots, electric shock and speeding trains have become commonplace. Jayalakshmi K reports.

Waste management has typically been a high-volume, low-margin business where the commodity in question - garbage - was seen as having little added value. Not anymore.
