The modified Sakrama-2007 will soon be out. Krishna Kumar, one of the Governor’s advisors, told reporters on Thursday that he has given specific directions to Urban Development Department officials to make appropriate modifications in the Sakrama Act.  He, however, did not disclose what directions he has given to the officials. As per the extended deadline, March 31 2008 is the last date for filing applications to regularise unauthorised constructions under the Sarkara scheme.
 
The Government has assured to make the scheme people-friendly by bring in certain modifications, following widespread criticism from all quarters. The original scheme was opposed for among others its high fee and unscientific way of regularising unauthorised properties.
