Bangalore University on Thursday released the list of candidates who will be presented with gold medals and prizes at the 43rd annual convocation on January 19. Vice-Chancellor H A Ranganath told reporters 160 candidates from various faculties will be presented gold medals and prizes.

Former President A P J Abdul Kalam is the chief guest and will deliver the convocation address. As many as 177 candidates, including cine actress Jayamala and former Legislative Council chairman B L Shankar, will be awarded PhDs.

Of the 40,221 eligible candidates this year,  29,919 have applied for degree certificates.

The highest number of gold medals and prizes have been bagged by Krupa A from the Centre of Kannada Studies and Chaitra H S of Department of Chemistry with nine medals each.

Vehicles can be parked at Prasanna Kumara Block, at Cricket Pavilion, behind Prasanna Kumara Block, Gandhinagar, Central College campus and Government Arts College, states an official release.
