Paryaya: Solution still elusive
Udupi, dhns: With less than six hours remaining for change of guard and ascension of the Puttige seer to Sarwajna peetha, no amicable solution has been found, till Thursday. In fact, Puttige seer Sugunendra Theertha and other seers are sticking to their guns and it appears that the outcome may be known only in the early hours on Friday.
Meanwhile, the High Court ordered issue of notices to Puttige Mutt seer Sugunendra Thirtha Swami and Krishnapura Mutt seer Vidyasagara Thirtha Swami on a petition on the paryaya issue. The court, however, rejected the petitioners’ interim prayer for a stay on Sugunendra Thirtha performing the pooja.
Counsel for petitioners, R L Patil, contended the religious sentiments of lakhs of devotees of the temple would be hurt if Sugunendra Thirtha is allowed to perform the sacred rituals at the Sri Krishna temple.
