Robbers make away with jewellery worth lakhs

A team of three inter-state robbers burgled two houses, one at Dabaspet in Bangalore rural district and another at Nandihalli in Tumkur district and made away with cash and Jewellery worth lakhs of rupees.



At around 1.30 in the night on Thursday robbers entered the house of Rajashekharaiah adjacent to the National Highway in the outskirts of Jagalluhalli at Dabaspet police station limits. They broke open the doors with stones and threatened those  inside the house. When Shivakumar, a family member protested, they assaulted him and eventually made away with about 350 grams of gold Jewellery and Rs 1,000 in cash.

The same team barged into the house of one Chandrappa in Nandihalli on Friday morning at 3.30. Their modus operandi here too was similar. They broke open the door with stones and entered inside. When Chandrappa protested they beat him up with sticks. They stole jewellery worn by women members of the family and then fled from the scene. Both Shivakumar and Chandrappa sustained minor injuries and are undergoing medical treatment.

The incidents have been registered at Dabaspet and Kyatsandra police stations.  The police said that the miscreants spoke Kannada, Telugu and Hindi and were in their thirties.

Tumkur District Superintendent of Police P Harishekaran, Bangalore Rural District Superintendent of Police  Vikas Kumar, DYSP Arifulla, Police officers Ananth Ram,  Dharmendra, Shankaranarayan, Kalleshappa and others visited the spot.

Crucial clue

Police have started investigations ad have found important clues, the police said. Of the three teams formed for the investigation, two teams have been sent to Andra Pradesh and the another one will work at it in the state.

“The accused will be will be nabbed within three days,” assured SP P Harishekaran.
