YOUTH'S ACT
Suicide threat from tree top
DH News Service, Tumkur:

An unidentified youth gave jitters to the people of Bhimasandra village when he climbed up a banyan tree near the high way 206 to commit suicide on Friday.

The man had been ill for a while and therefore had decided to take this extreme step.

He had climbed on top of the tree in the morning and had been threatening to commit suicide. Hundreds of people gathered and no amount of pleading managed to change his mind.

The people informed the police firefighters and other emergency services just in case the man decided to act on his threat.

The traffic was also disrupted for a while. Finally it was the fire fighters and emergency services people tricked him into getting down from his dangerous high perch.

The onlookers said that the person was remanded into the police custody. About eight months ago another man had also threatened to commit suicide in the Tilakpark police station premises.
