There will be no change for advance booking in the case of certain day-time express trains like the Taj Express, Gomti Expressm etc., where lower time limits for advance reservations are at present in force.
There will also be no change in the case of the limit of 360 days for foreign tourists. While on the face of it, this measure of the IR looks like a pro-passenger approach, informed sources assert that this has been only to show a better balance sheet during the coming railway budget, slated for the last week of February.
The Indian Railways is likely to earn an additional Rs 550-600 crore to show in the current fiscal balance sheet so as to project IR finances in better light.
