Having survived some torrid moments on the 18th, Abhishek pushed the match into extra holes and finally sealed the issue on the 20th hole with a birdie to oust sixth seed Vikram Rana and enter the last four stage.

Joining Abhishek were local lad and fourth seed Rahul Bakshi who was a 2 & 1 winner over 37th ranked Arshdeep Tiwana and 32nd seed Mohd. Arie of Malaysia who beat 24th seed H.S. Kang 4 & 3.

The 42nd seed Manav Das was the last semi-finalist after stopping 15th seed Mithun Perera 4 & 3 in a quarterfinal tie.

Arie will clash with Rahul while Abhishek meets Manav in the semi-finals.

Jeev struggles

Early season jitters haunted the Indians as Jeev Milkha Singh (71) and Shiv Kapur (77) failed to get going in the second round at the Abu Dhabi golf championships on Friday, adds IANS.

In the first of the three-event Middle East swing of the European Tour, Jeev had two birdies and one bogey in his one-under 71 on the day, but his first round 76 meant he was three-over with the cut likely at one-over. Kapur, who shot a two-over 74 on the first day, shot a five-over 77 and at seven-over was through for the week.

Jyoti Randhawa, the third Indian in the field was still out on the course. Randhawa shot a three-over 75 on first day and needs a good sub-par round to ensure some Indian presence over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Martin Kaymer of Germany went one better than his first day's six-under with a seven-under 65. That gave him a two-day total of 13-under that is unlikely to be headed at this stage.

Chopra unimpressive

Daniel Chopra, winner of the opening event on the PGA Tour this season, is in danger of missing the cut in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, adds IANS from California.

Chopra, who won the Mercedes Benz Championships, shot 73 and 74 in the first two rounds and was lying way behind in tied 122nd place in the 128-man field.

D.J. Trahan (67-64) and Robert Gamez (65-66), both from US, were tied for lead at 13-under 131.
