Clooney named UN Messenger of Peace
Hollywood heart-throb George Clooney has been designated by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon as a UN Messenger of Peace to raise awareness about the world body’s peacekeeping efforts reports PTI from United Nations.
Clooney, a human rights activist, will join eight other internationally renowned individuals as messengers to advocate on behalf of the United Nations and focus global attention on its efforts to improve the lives of billions of people, the United Nations announced on Friday.
He has has been recognised for his work to focus public attention on crucial international political and social issues.
Kylie Minogue scans Google for Mr Right
Australian pop superstar Kylie Minogue, who has battled cancer, admitted that she goes to Google to find out any famous men that she might like reports IANS from London.
Her sister Dannii supposedly does the same. When Minogue was asked if she goes online she said: “I can’t lie. I did it with a friend and she would out me. I can’t tell you who, though.”
She added that she simply cannot reveal this piece of information at this time.
She is also upset that demos of her album X were leaked online last summer.
‘Going public on Spear’s health was wrong’
US television show doctor Phil McGraw regrets going public with his thoughts on troubled pop singer Britney Spears’ mental health, reports IANS from London.
McGraw had agreed to meet Spears when she was admitted to the hospital after a breakdown, reports contactmusic.com. But the star’s family was upset with him for talking about her “mental instability”.
The doctor could also be in trouble with the Board of Psychology after they found out that he was practising without a valid California licence when he went to help Britney.
