Create global HR cadre, says Kalam
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Kalam sir set a vision for Bangalore University on its convocation day, -A vision that envisages to achieve his favourite 2020 development goals through the graduates of BU.

Former President A P J Abdul Kalam’s address at the 43rd annual convocation on Saturday set the gold medallists and other audience assembled in Jnana Jyoti auditorium take a vow of accomplishing a mission in life of building a knowledge society.

He suggested a six month course into the present BU graduate and post-graduate framework to create what he termed as “global human resources cadre”.

“In this period the students should be equipped with knowledge on subjects like leadership, management, finance, marketing, inter-personal relationship, negotiation, entrepreneurship, IT/ ITES applications, knowledge process outsourcing domain expertise and also adaptation of ethical values in all professional transactions”, he said.

He added that the students should be provided a certificate or a diploma along with the professional degree and that this form of education will equip the youth with employable skills needed by the industry and also give the confidence to them to take up entrepreneurship as an independent venture.

He also suggested introduction of moral science classes and BU students taking up initiatives in rural areas on the lines of PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas).

Initially digressing from his prepared speech, he did what he known for best - Igniting the mind of the younger generation. The former people’s president made the audience repeat that they would boldly face and defeat problems, think high and work towards achieving great goals, work with integrity and bring glory to their country.
Mr Kalam felt that country will stride the path of success by sowing the seeds of capacity building among the students by embedding five key elements - inquiry, creativity, technology, entrepreneurial and moral leadership - into the education system.

MISSION POSSIBLE
* I am great in thinking and in action.
* I firmly believe that I achieve any mission.
*n I will dream to live even in Mars.
*n It doesn’t matter who I am.
* I will work, work and work.
* All the forces of the universe will also assist me.
* I will achieve what I dream.
* I will reach any part of our Galaxy.
