Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishanan and three other eminent personalities were conferred with honourary doctorates at the 43rd annual convocation of Bangalore University on Saturday.
Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who is also the Chancellor of the University, conferred the LLD Degree on Justice Balakrishanan.
Former Mayor and social thinker G Narayan and former BU vice-chancellor T R Jayaraman were conferred DLit degrees. Former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Goverdhan Mehta was conferred with DSc degree.
As many as 177 candidates were presented PhDs. Most recognisable among them were actor Jayamala and former chairman of the Legislative Council B L Shankar. Both were awarded their doctorates in political science.
