Professor Shivashankar Kadadevaramata, Secretary Vishwanthdwaya, last rotary governor T S Venkatananjappa and other office bearers have been working towards celebrating the 50th year in grand style.
The Rotary has already organised huge health camps, heart check-up camp, with the support of Dr Raj organisation, free dental check-up camp for the students of Siddaganga Mutt within a span of four months on the eve of its golden jubilee.
There was a very good response from the public also for all these check-up camps, says the president Kadadevaramata. The Rotary has other plans to organise many such programmes.
Another special programme called ‘National Friendship programme’, a rare programme which, no other Rotary had taken up , says the president. As part of the programme, members of the Rotary in Tumkur toured North India and visited prestigious rotary organisations, in which they discussed several issues and strategies.
Cultural events
They visited several rotaries such as Jaipur Rotary, Central rotary in Delhi, Dehradun Rotary, Simla Rotary, Chandigarh Rotary and others. The members of Shimla Rotary had also entertained them with the cultural programmes of their region, recollects the president.
One of the most memorable experience is meeting of former President of India Dr Abdul Kalam.
They have been trying to implement the message conveyed by Dr Kalam that the rotary should work towards progressing the villages, he added.
