The agenda for the meeting of Board of Approval (BoA) includes proposals from Sriperumbudur Ventures, Sengadu Projects, SAIL Salem SEZ, DLF Commercial Developers, Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.
IT & pharma
Bulk of the proposals to be discussed are for IT and pharma zones in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
Among proposals listed includes a 1,000 hectare multi-product zone by Sengadu in Tamil Nadu, 112 hectare steel special economic zone by Steel Authority of India, Salem in the state as well as eight proposals from Tamil Nadiu Industrial Development Corporation over an area of 800 hectares for pharma, electronic hardware, IT and biotech zones in Tamil Nadu.
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories’ 106 hectare pharma zone in Andhra Pradesh is also listed for approval.
This meeting of BOA, chaired by Commerce Secretary Gopal Pillai, was postponed couple of times last year.
The government has so far given formal approval to 232 zones and and notified 172. It has given in-principle nod to 165 SEZs so far.
