Over 37 school children who had ‘prasada’ have taken ill in Pirumenahalli Tandya.
Ayyappa pilgrims who had organised pooja in Tandya on Monday night had served food to the villagers after the pooja.
However, since the pooja continued late in the night, most of the villagers did not turn up.
School children had consumed the food before going to school and later vomited. Ambulance was then called and the students were taken to the hospital.
The doctors immediately treated the children and they have responded to the treatment, informed hospital medical officer Dr Ravikeerthi.
Though the condition of nine year old Swati and Kempi is serious, they are out of danger, the doctors informed.
They added that when their classmates vomited, the others too started vomiting.
