In a incidents that would repose the people’s belief that officials and elected representatives are apathetic to the social problems the ‘Untouchability Eradication Week and Awareness Programme’ was cancelled  vowing to the absence of officials and representatives in Kolar Gold Fields. The programme was supposed to be held at Betamangala . Seeing the poor turn out of the officials and guests enraged dalit associations called for the cancellation of the programme and said it is an insult to the dalits and said that officials in way are supporting untouchability.

Though gram panchayats members were present the invited guests including TP President Shankarappa, CEO Dr Ventakataswamy and other dignitaries kept themselves absent.
