NANJAMARI SPEAK
BJP's statements flayed
DH News Service, Tiptur:

In order to woo the voters of this region, BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa are promising to implement the Honnavalli lift irrigation project if the BJP was elected to the power in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

They did not bother to release money for the same, when both of them were in the power as ministers, alleged former MLA of JD(S) B Nanjamari.

He said, he had got to know about this through the media, which had reported about the surprise visit of former chief minister and BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa to Tiptur, wherein, they had assured the people of Tiptur that they would implement the project as soon as possible.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Mr Nanjamari said, hundreds of crores of rupees are spent for the various irrigational projects in North Karnataka, while, not a single paise is released to the various irrigational projects of the districts of South Karnataka, including the Honnavalli lift irrigation project.

Favouritism?
He further alleged that Mr Yeddyurappa had released lots of money to the constituencies belonging to the BJP and the JD (S), while, the neighbouring areas like Chickkanayakanahalli, Kunigal and Tiptur, etc, were neglected.
Both Chickkanayakanahalli and Kunigal regions received an amount of Rs 8 crore for the developmental activities, while, only Rs two crore was released to Tiptur in the year 2006-2007.

The previous year, only Rs three crore was earmarked for Chickkanayakanahalli and Kunigal taluks, while only Rs 1.2 crore was earmarked for Tiptur taluk, Mr Nanjamari explained.

He said, he would be placing this matter in front of the public and make them realise the true facts. He also clarified that he would not join any other party, but contest from the JD (S) only.  He said, the minorities were in favour of the JD (S), along with their votes, he also had the support of his followers from other communities blurring communal bourdaries, with whose votes, he was confident of being elected once again as an MLA, he added.
