The Jain community from across the world will
converge into the city for the Jain International Trade Organisation
(JITO), beginning tomorrow.
Even as leaders from across the cross section of the society
would address and hear about the prosperity of the community in
diverse fields in the multi trade global meet, the focus of
attention would be the unique pavilion with large collection
of paintings and idols.
Held at the Bombay Exhibition grounds in Goregaon, the event
would throw light on the religious upliftment of the community.
Artists from Jaipur had worked together to design a 'Ratna
Mandir' in the pavilion.
Among over 500 artifacts and paintings on display, the star
attraction would be a crystal ''Astapad'' depicting the place of
nirvana Kalyank of trithankar Adinath. Besides, over 140 ''Jin
Pratimas'(idols) carved out from precious gemstones like aquamarine,
emeralds, ruby, topaz, sandstone and granite, will be on
display on the pavilion.
The idols belonging to the period between second and 14th
century also include bronze statues and broguth from various
prominent Jain pilgrimage centres across the country including
Shravanabelagola, Khajurao, Devgarh, Gwalior, Mathura, Chanderi.
Also on display would be models of the various Jain temples in
the country and Bhandars.A collection of Jain iconography,
miniatures, wall paintings and exquisite 'Patts' of the finest
kind from different periods of history would also be exhibited in
the pavilion.
Miniature art sources from 'Kalpsutras', rare ''Patts'',
wooden and wall hangings - procured from Bundi , Vidarbha,
Shravanbelgola, Surat, Kolkata , Jiyaganj and Azimgunj will also be
exhibited at the pavilion.
