Muneer puts Presidency in command

Mohammad Muneer struck a quickfire hundred as Presidency School, RT Nagar gained upperhand over VVS Sardar Patel School on the first of the quarterfinals of the under-17 cricket tournament for Boost Cup here on Tuesday.

Amogha Varsha bagged three wickets and Muneer along with Wasim Baig chipped in with two wickets apiece as Presidency bundled out Sardar Patel for a paltry 159.

Abhay C Nayak made an unbeaten 80 (103b, 9x4, 1x6) for Sardar Patel School.

Then Muneer hammered 116 (127b, 20x4) as Presidency raced to 291 for eight in 53 overs for a lead of 132 runs. Abhishek Shetty grabbed four wickets for them, conceding 62 runs.

Brief scores: VVS Sardar Patel School: 159 all out in 39.1 overs (Manish 36, Abhay C Nayak 80 n.o; Mohammed Muneer 2/32, Wasim Baig 2/49, Amogh Varsha 3/34) vs Presidency School, RT Nagar: 291/8 in 53 overs (Mohammed Muneer 116, Mandeep Singh 41; Abhishek Shetty 4-62, K V Siddarth 2-65)
 St Joseph’s Boy’s High School: 268/9 in 55 overs (Sheikar Bhandary 49, Vinoop Manohar 36, Nirmal 75 n.o; Suyash 6-85] vs Jain International Residential School: 185/6 in 45 overs (Prathveer 58, Subas Angadi 30; Sherwie Kuri 2-40).
