Brad Hogg may not have Shane Warne's guiles but the left-arm Chinaman bowler's flipper is as good as that of the retired great, according to Australia skipper Ricky Ponting.
Hogg was not an automatic choice when Australia picked the side for the first Test against India but the Chinaman bowler did enough to justify his selection in Mebourne and Ponting believes at least he has a flipper as potent as that of Warne.
"A couple of flippers that he bowled were as good as anyone's as good as Warnie's in his heyday," Ponting said ahead of the second Test at the SCG.
Hogg removed in-form Sourav Ganguly with a flipper that baffled the left-hander and crashed onto the stumps in the first innings and Yuvraj Singh too fell to the spinner in the second essay to the same delivery.
Hogg was quite amused with the result, especially because not trying the option in a match in the last two years.
"For him to get that amount of bowling under his belt and get used to Test cricket again and get a couple of good players out...will do his confidence the world of good," Ponting was quoted as saying by 'The Age'.
"I think you'll see a more confident, and probably a better bowler here," he said, issuing a veiled warning to Anil Kumble and his men.
