Residents protest against bar opening in Bagepalli
DH News Service, Bagepalli:
The residents of Bagepalli entered the premises of the Taluk offices and held a protest against the proposed opening of a dhaba attached to the bar in the residential area on Monday.

The bar has been functioning for a few years in the area but the  owner has now proposed to open a dhaba attached to the bar in the 17 ward of the municipal. The construction of the dhaba is almost complete, but the people there are now protesting against  it because of the ‘menace’ it would create in the area.

Residents say that the place would become a haven for drunks and odd hours that create a problem for the people living in surrounding areas. The women especially have been vocal against the problems that will be faced by them if this establishment opens in their area.

They are demanding that the remaining construction be stopped immediately be stopped the functioning of the both the bar and the dhaba be stopped with immediate effect. Tahsildhar Rupashri visited the site for an inspection in an attempt pacify the agitating people.

She ordered the immediate stopping of the construction which had been going on without and permit and also assured the people that the officials would take the necessary action to ensure that the residents are not inconvenienced. Revenue Inspector  Chowdappa, Sub Inspector Tabre Alam Pasha, Anjinappa and other officials were present. The agitation was led by the Block Youth Congress president Prakash.
