Tumkur zilla SP P Harishekaran for the first time held the people’s contact programme at Shadi Mahal, Melekote on Monday.

Peace and cooperative living should be our top priority. Also, we should transcend communal and casteist feelings, he added.

Action will be initiated against those responsible for certain untoward incidents in the city off late, he stated.
The people in Tumkur have always been in the forefront of protecting peace and maintaining communal harmony in the region. Nobody can break this solidarity, observed Mr Harishekaran.

Man is a social animal and moreover it is our culture that dictates our attitude towards peace and cooperative living, he said.

The police have contained several illegal activities happening in the city. The police department is functioning efficiently without succumbing to the pressure. Special efforts have been undertaken by the department to provide safety to the women, the aged and the children. Also, an environment should be created wherein both the police and the general public can act in cooperation, observed Mr Harishekaran.
