The BJP activists alleging that the implementation of development projects in the State were getting delayed due to the President’s rule, staged a protest, here on Monday.
In the light of the State-wide call given by the party, the party workers criticised the style of functioning of the administration and urged that the various demands should be met.
The moment the BJP-JD (S) coalition government fell, the administration was being controlled by the direction of a particular party and protecting only its interests, they alleged and added that this was not a proper reflection of democracy.
They charged that they were protesting against the self-rule.
It was not right to delay the implementation of people’s programme. The power should be transferred immediately to the local bodies; The special fund released based on the Dr D M Nanjundappa report should be immediately sanctioned; Sandhya Surakshana scheme should be implemented; The construction of Vidhana Soudha in Belgavi should be taken up immediately; Relief should be distributed to flood victims and teachers salary should be released. The Centre should give up the step-motherly treatment on the State, urged the protesters.
The protest was led by Rangegowda. City unit president Rameshachar, T R Sadashivaiah and other leaders participated.
