The Republic Day is bound to be a memorable one for these 30 to 40 visually challenged children belonging to the Special School, Bangalore. They are all geared up to set a world record on the eve of R-Day, by creating the world’s largest `Rangoli’ - measuring over 1.5 lakh sq feet and present it to the world the next day.
Addressing press persons in Bangalore on Monday, S P Murthy of the Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind informed that the programme was being organised by CBR Project unit and Suvarna Jyothi Trust, Bangalore.
The children will draw the `Rangoli’ on January 25, Friday at Palace Grounds near Mekhri circle. The programme will be attended by former Lokayukta Justice N Venkatachala and Tejaswini Ananthkumar, Chairperson of Adamya Chethana Trust, one of the programme sponsors.
The Rangoli will be on public display on January 26 and 27, when the visibly challenged students will perform folk arts like Nandi Kolu and Dollu Kunitha, he said.
The children are depending totally on generous public contribution for their eye operation, he added.
