Pioneer club to visit India
Bangalore, DHNS: Members of Pioneer Club 2008, launched by XL Results Foundation, a global entrepreneur and social enterprise network, and Hunger Project, a global organisation committed to the sustainable end of world hunger, will visit India on a transformational leadership trip.

The 50 members, on a 12-day trip starting January 24, will implement a five-year strategy at the grassroots level. The strategy includes training 50,000 elected women leaders to solve problems of education, health and nutrition, announced Roger Hamilton, founder and Chairman of XL Results Foundation, in Bangalore on Monday.

KPAMRC service  centre inaugurated
The Karnataka Parents’ Association for Mentally Retarded Citizens (KPAMRC) on Sunday inaugurated the KPAMRC-Jeena Service Centre at Arshinakunte, near Nelamangala. The centre is housed at the Vishwashanti Niketan — Group Home Rehabilitation Complex (GHRC).

 The centre houses a vocational training unit, sheltered workshop and day-care centre for persons with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.

The KPAMRC-Jeena Service Centre  centre, was inaugurated by Dr R Srinivasa Murthy, retired Professor of Psychiatry, NIMHANS.

Gangubai to be discharged soon
Hubli, DHNS: Hindustani singer Gangubai Hangal, who underwent surgery for a hip fracture, is recovering well at a private hospital in Hubli. She is expected to be discharged soon. The singer accidentally fell down in the bathroom a month ago. She was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in the hip region and had to undergo a minor surgery.

Motoring journalism competition
Carwale.com, a dotcom, is holding a motoring journalism competition offering first prize of Rs 50,000 ‘either cash or kind’. The contest, which began on January 17, will conclude on February 15.

Winners will be announced on March 1. The company has asked students of engineering, car enthusiasts and those employed in car firms to use the competition as an opportunity for taking up motoring journalism. For details, log on to carwale.com
