The saffron party was also dissatisfied with the state administration and said that several development oriented proposals announced in the state budget by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had been sidelined.
The march was led by senior leaders including Yeddyurappa and party general secretary Ananth Kumar from Hudson Circle to Raj Bhavan.
“Various issues like power to local bodies, implementation of Nanjundappa Committee report, compensation to the flood-hit people, release of salaries to teachers have not been given adequate attention by the state administration, while the Central Government has failed to control the price rise of essential commodities.
Ill-treatment
The UPA government is also rendering a step-motherly attitude towards the state - be it release of grants or according classical language status to Kannada or the boundary issue with Maharashtra,” charged the protesting party members.
They also rued that that former Congress legislators in Bangalore, were indirectly controlling the BBMP administration ever since the President’s rule was imposed in the state.
The BJP also held similar protest rallies and dharnas in all the districts in the state.
The state unit of the BJP on Monday demanded that the budget proposals presented by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa be continued till a popular government is in place in the state.
UPA GOVT WARNED
Speaking at a booth committee convention in Bangalore, Party National General Secretary Ananth Kumar warned of a state-wide agitation if the state budget is presented in the Parliament as per norms, when a state is under the President’s rule. Mr Ananth Kumar, however, charged that the Congress-led UPA government would try to gain political mileage in the state by presenting the budget.
