Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike had earlier planned to place 20 pre-cast elements. However on Tuesday BBMP restricted it to 18 elements.

K S Krishna Reddy, BBMP chief engineer (major roads) said earlier the Palike had planned of sidewalks and landscape on either side of the underpass.  “Now the space available for the sidewalks and landscape will be lesser but still we will go ahead with the construction”.

Reddy said repair of roads damaged while shifting utilities and asphaltation of up ramps and down ramps of the underpass will begin on Wednesday.

Strike affected
Truckers’ strike in protest against adopting speed governors affected the underpass work as well. The trailer hired to carry pre-cast elements was not available till the afternoon. Soil lifted from the underpass work site is being dumped at the Palike’s playground in Vayalikaval. The Palike has plans to utilise the soil to develop a football ground there, he said.
