The residents of the Koppa rural area are facing problems as the Town Panchayat here failed to make adequate facilities for the disposal of the waste. About 7 years ago, the panchayat people started to dump the waste from across the town on a 5 acre land on NH 13 in the outskirts of the town. Now even this area is filled and waste is being dumped on the roads. There are no fences or compound walls around this area due to, which the cattle and other animals from the nearby area enter this dumpyard and feed on plastics other under wastes and fall sick.
Effluents from the dumpyard are flowing down to the low lying areas such as Kumrigadde. The feilds and plantation in this area are being flooded with the dirty water from the yard. The fowl smell from the yard has engulfed the entire region. Though the situation has gone over board, no authorities have yet opened their eyes.
