Students took out the rally as a part of protest against the examination fees hike in polytechnics here recently.
Several students took out a protest rally in the main streets of the town and blocked the road by forming human chain in Bangalore circle.
The protesters alleged that rural students are in deep trouble as the fee has been increased. Hence, parents of rural children are urging the children to give up the education. They staged dharna in front of tahsildar’s office and submitted a memorandum to the tahsildar pressing for the withdrawal of fees hike.
They demanded the authorities concerned to reduce the fees hike and extend the date for paying the fees. Their other demands include providing Esmart cards, setting up a library in the polytechnic.
ABVP District Co-ordniator N Manjunath, Taluk Co-ordinator Vijayram, City Secretary Pradeep, State Committee Member Sadashiva Reddy, leaders Madhu, Shiva, Srivalli, Puneeta, Ramya Seema Savota, Lawanya Manjula and others were present on the occasion. They have demanded the authorities concerned to reduce the fees at the earliest, sources said. The withdrawal of fees hike would help rural students, they said.
