The Drishti Art Foundation, an organisation working for the promotion of classical arts has put together an evening of Bharatanatyam and Kathak dance on January 25 at 6:15 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. This is the third of Drishti’s festival in the City.
Bharatanatyam by Dr Vasundara Doraswamy, Bharatanjali dance ensemble, and Anuradha Vikranth; Kathak by the husband-wife duo Nirupama Rajendra and T D Rajendra are some of the highlights of the festival.
Anuradha Vikranth and T M Vikranth, the founders of the organisation have been instrumental in keeping the traditional dances alive. Their dance concerts in the City are popular both with the young and old. While Vikranth strives to bring to people a world of entertainment based on classical and contemporary dance and music through magazine on dance and music, a Bharatanatyam training institution and performing group, Anuradha is a Bharatanatyam dancer who believes dance is a powerful medium of expression that transforms the dancer into a totally different person on stage.
Going beyond the usual performance-bound lives of most dancers, she also is the co-founder and creative director of Drishti, an exclusive magazine on dance and music. She imparts training in Bharatanatyam to many aspiring students through her dance institute Drishti Art Centre,.
