'Cong is not conspiring to postpone polls'
DH News Service, Madhugiri:

Former minister and member  of the All India Congress Committee, Dr G Parameshwar said that the party workers needed to work hard to strengthen the position of the party and help it come to power in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

“Having lost power in a few states, the party is going through a low ebb. We need the cooperation of every party worker to help win the elections in Karnataka” said the leader.

He was addressing the  general body meeting of the Taluk Congress party workers held on Wednesday in Sri Malleshwaswamy temple at Madhugiri that he inaugurated.

Role of party workers
“ When the Congress party was in trouble the last time, Indira Gandhi won the election from Chikkaballapur constituency and it was Karnataka that heralded Congress’s re-entry as a Central Government. We need to  repeat the feat this time as well and the party worker has the most important role to play.” he said.

He also dismissed the BJP charges of a Congress conspiracy to postpone elections as baseless and confidently predicted that the Congress party would win the election with an  absolute majority. He added that Rs 800 crore has already been released for the rail project that Tumkur and Raidurga through Madhugiri. The Chief Guest of the meet and Member of Parliment R L Jalappa also spoke  on the occasion and criticised Yeddyurappa saying “BSY’s claims that his budget vision is universal and long term is absolutely false. He is just misleading the people about the budget”

“The arrack ban or the cycle distribution is just a cover up. The Government was unable to fix the problem of bad roads, so the buses have a real problem travelling on them. To counter this they has distributed free cycles.” was his sarcastic remark.
