The security high-ups said the surrender of such a large number of militants dealt a severe blow to the rebel outfit ahead of the Republic Day. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army’s 4 Corps Lt Gen B S Jaswal said that the security forces were expecting more militants to surrender soon. The ULFA has called upon people of Assam to boycott the Republic Day celebrations in the State.
