The occasion was the annual day celebrations of Body Language, a dance and modelling school, and dynamic dancers and models training with the school put up a great show. The show choreographed and directed by founder M S Sreedhar, and produced by the Parents and Students Association, was an exploration through dance all the way.
If the opening act Step Up was set in the midst of a rehearsal session with dancers striving to excel in front of their choreographer, Oriental Art that followed was all about mastering the mind and the body. A group of beauties put up a display of martial arts, a combination of Kung fu and Karate. ‘Kung Fu’ by Carl Dauglos made for the perfect background score.
There was also First Temptation that saw dual dancers waltzing through Cha-Cha-Cha, hip-hop, salsa and Afro-jazz and Metamorphosis a fun and energetic style of dancing, that saw dancers blending hip hop, slam dance and underground rave. But Disco Kittens was what appealed to the party animals in the audience. A bunch of kiddos in golden dancing shoes put up a dazzling display with their free style moves.
Spiced with romance
Jive, jazz and salsa that are fast becoming a brand came together in Eye-Spy. It was time then to
experience rock and roll with jive steps thrown in. Next came Latino chic that had expert dancers greasing the floor with salsa that is spiced with romance. Another act Two to tango had Nidhi and Prashant partying with a rare mix of tango and rumba steps. Dance factor however was about just letting your hair down and dancing away the blues.
Dressed in red and white, the performers set the floor on fire. The score Everybody dance now that played in the background was not something that some in the crowd could resist shaking a leg to.
Show stealer
However, it was Moods of India, a performance that saw little girls dressed in colourful ethnic wear, that emerged as the show stealer. In contrast, there was an item which had today’s fashion centric girls sporting designer dresses and flaunting global trends, walk the ramp.
There was Mum and Me for the saree lovers. The fashion sequence traced the evolution of a girl into a woman. Wrapped in differently styled sarees, the mom and the model walked to Tumse hi... from Jab we Met.
All in all it was an evening that saw the world of dance, fashion and glamour come together. Impressed? Then you know where to head with your dreams and dancing shoes!
