It is unfortunate that even after India being a Republic for the last 58 years, people belonging to the lower strata have not attained Constitutional privileges. This only reflects the inefficiency with which our administrative system is functioning, said Tiptur Sub-division officer K Jyothi.
Speaking after hoisting the flag at the Republic Day celebrations held at Kalpataru Stadium he said though India has achieved remarkable progress in almost all the fronts, the country is yet to come out of caste, religion and other social problems.
The facilities announced by the government are not reaching to the true beneficiaries. There is no employment generation in proportion to the increase in population, he said. He added that the need of the hour is to carry on development work is a planned and systematic way. He also distributed bands to the beneficiaries of Bhagya Laxmi scheme implemented by the State government in 2006-07.
Tahasildar M Ningaiah, Taluk panchayat CEO B G Ravindra, DYSP R Mahadevappa and other officials of various government departments were present. Schoolchildren participated in the Republic Day parade. Various cultural programmes were held on this occasion.
No flag hoisted
Several banks, including SBI, Maranagere ADB and Kalpataru Kaveir Grameena Bank, which were enjoying three holidays in a row, did not bother to hoist flag on the Republic Day on their buildings. The government should take notice of it and remind the banks of the importance of observing national holidays, feel the people of the region.
