But the fact that it will go on for a month is not the only thing special about this festival. The cultural programmes that are held every evening feature performances by famous artistes - and these performances are drawing huge crowds.

Along with the cultural shows, the amusement park has also proved to be a big hit.

Processions

The Zilla Utsav Samiti - of which deputy commissioner S R Umashankar is the president - is also making plans to take out attractive processions as part of the zilla utsav. These arrangements are being made under the leadership of  the Deputy Commissioner and Police Superintendent P Harishekharan. Apart from this, an oxen race, a boat race for those form Kunigal, and other such contests are also being organised.

The team led by the Superintendent of Police has already made all the necessary arrangements, keeping in mind that the processions  during the zilla utsav  should be grand,  attractive and peaceful.

The procession will reflect the history, culture, and arts and crafts from the village, according to the administration.

As part of the zilla utsav, an art exhibition will be held at the pre-university college from Sunday.

B A Rajashekhar, the deputy director of the Public Education Department, will be the chief guest. V G Andani will inaugurate the exhibition.
