A portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar was unveiled at the controversial government land in Hunasanahalli in the taluk on Saturday. The portrait was unveiled by sub-inspector Y S Mohan, after he paid a visit to the land.
For a while, the ownership of a 105/29 foot-stretch of land in site number 341/1, which falls under the Hulubale Gram Panchayat limits, had been a controversial issue. The Ambedkar Youth Association wanted to build a community centre on the land.
It is said that Muniyappa (also known as Late Munisami) had illegally encroached upon the land. When the association leaders approached the police to file a complaint in this regard, sub-inspector Y S Mohan examined the documents and visited the spot a well. He then gave the go-ahead for establishing the community hall, and unveiled the portrait.
Leaders Siddanahalli Yallappa, Inorahosahalli Nagaraj, Rajanna, Srinivas, association president Jagadish, Prakash, Santosh Kumar, Amaresh, H S Srinivas, Ramachandra, DNS member Selvimuthu, Bharat Dhwaj and others were also present on the occasion.
