Vishwa Hindu Parishath in association with Bajrang Dal will organise inter-school, inter-collegiate Bhajan competition at Town Hall in Manglore on January 29, said Convenor Rajagopala Rai.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, he said the competitions will be held in three categories viz; high school level, PU level, and degree-level. More than 55 teams are expected to take part.
The competition will be inaugurated by Kodialguthu Ajith Kumar Rai. Kannada Sahithya Parishath former president Harikrishna Punaroor will preside. Vishwa Hindu Parishath district President Manohar Tulujayaram, Bantara Yane Mathr Sangha Secretary Sundara Shetty will be the chief guests. The prizes will be distributed in the evening at 5.30 pm. The programme will be presided by VHP division President M B Puranik.
Thimmappa Hegde, Vijayendra Shenoy and Vishwanath who have contributed to the field of bhajan will be felicitated.
Every team should have a maximum of 10 people and a minimum of five. Dress, raaga, thala, co-ordination will also be considered for prize. Only Kannada dasara bhajans will be allowed to sing. Every team will be given seven minutes time.
