Asadulla, who is said to have terror links, was arrested by Davangere police three days ago. During interrogation, Asadulla had reportedly mentioned Asif’s name and said that he was living with him (Asif) in the hostel. The Davangere police had come to Hubli to search Asif’s room and to find out more about Asadulla’s links with terror organisations recently.
Reacting to media reports of Asif’s links with Asadulla, KIMS authorities had issued a notice to Asif, asking him to vacate the room temporarily. Asif vacated the hostel at 8 pm, and left for Raichur on Sunday. He has to come back to Hubli to attend two more papers of his final year MBBS on January 30 and 31.
Talking to this paper, Asif said he was innocent and he did not know anything abut Asadulla’s terror links.
“We accidentally met and became friends. I used to discuss with him about medical subjects as he was studying Ayurvedic. Apart from this, I do not know anything about his terrorist activities or links with militant organisations.”
Asif is the eldest of 10 children to his parents. His parents are working as daily wagers to earn their livelihood. His neighbourhood, consisting mainly of Hindus at Shraf Bazar on Netaji Road in Raichur has a good opinion about Asif.
