The first Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army Field Marshal K M Kariappa’s 109th birth anniversary was observed meaningfully by various organisations here on Monday.
Field Marshal K M Kariappa’s daughter Nalini Kariappa and son Air Marshal (retd) K C Kariappa laid wreath on the tomb of Field Marshal K M Kariappa at Roshanara. Retired Army officials Uthaiah, Belliappa, Deputy Divisional Officer Akram Pasha, FMC College Principal Dr Pushpa Kuttanna students, former soldiers also paid respects on the occasion.
Students sang patriotic songs on the occasion. An essay competition was organised on the occasion. Vamshitha won the first prize.
Later speaking to the presspersons, Air Marshal (retd) K C Kariappa said government is neglecting the soldiers. No war memorial has been constructed to pay respects to those who have laid their lives to the country from the district. He urged the district administration to construct a war memorial.
Inter-collegiate competitions were also held in FMC on the occasion.
