CPM stages protest over delay in rail lines
DH News Service, Chikmagalur:

CPM activists staged a protest urging the early completion of Kadur-Chikmagalur railway tracks, in front of DC office on Monday.

They said that Mr Deve Gowda had laid foundation for the work on Kadur-Chikmagalur railway line when he was the Prime Minister.

Even after 12 years, the work is not completed. They submitted a memorandum to Union Minister for Railways through HQA.

The work has been suspended for the past four years owing to the negligence of railway ministry and department. In 2004-05, a sum of Rs 15 crore has been released.

Of which 7.78 crore has been utilised for the work. Later, 8 crore was released, of which 5.77 crore was utilised and remaining money was sent back to the authority.

An estimation of Rs 294 crore was prepared for the Kadur-Chikmagalur-Sakleshpur 93 km railway line. If the railway track gets ready, then it will be boost for the coffee exporters of the region, they added.
