Indians world’s 3rd biggest online shoppers
Indian netizens have emerged as the third biggest credit card users globally for online purchasings, next only to the Turkish and Irish e-shoppers, PTI reports from New Delhi.
According to a global online survey conducted by leading research firm Nielsen, more than 85 per cent of internet users in the world are purchasing goods or services online, while credit card has emerged as the most famous payment method for such purchases.
In the survey, as many as 84 per cent of online shoppers from India said they have used credit cards for such transactions, next only to 91 per cent in Turkey and 86 per cent in Ireland.
India shared the third position with the UAE, which also has 84 per cent of online buyers using a credit card.
First cancer hospital in Jammu and Kashmir
The first cancer hospital will be constructed at a cost of Rs 25 billion, functioning by May this year, reports IANS from Jammu.
The 700-bed hospital is being built at Katra, which lies at the base of the hill shrine of Vaishno Devi. Katra is 45 km north of Jammu. The first phase of the hospital costing Rs one billion will be completed by May this year.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is constructing this state-of-the-art hospital.
“This facility will be developed into a high tech institute of medical excellence of 700 beds offering all other super-speciality care,” said Lt General (Retd) S K Sinha, the Jammu and Kashmir governor said.
Al Jazeera ready to beam live in India
Al Jazeera International, awaiting clearance to transmit Al Jazeera English in India, on Monday stated that the channel worked on high journalistic ethics on all issues from Osama Bin Laden to the Jewish people of Israel, reports UNI from Kolkata.
Al Jazeera Network Regional Distribution Director Diana Hosker said, “We are the voice of the voiceless with a motto to give importance to the three As — Arab world, Asia and Africa and also Latin America.”
Talking about the method of operations in India, Bureau Chief Anmol Saxena said, “We will work on content sharing with regional or national channels in India, besides having our own India-centric programmes.”
