Blindness is not a curse for this 73-year-old musician who strives hard to teach music to many of his students in the district. That is Pandit Sri Vayujeevothamachar, who has dedicated his entire life to music.
Pt Vayujeevothamachar has been teaching music for the past four decades at his music school Sri Venkateshwara Sangeetha Pathashala at Gajagarpet here.
Many of his students have excelled even in the national level and brought laurels to the music school. Pt Vayujeevothamachar has himself given tabla saath to 32 musicians in the country.
Pt Vayujeevothamachar lost his sight at the tender age of 2. He started training in music when was 13, under the guidance of late Srinivas Acharya Khakandki. Later, in 1967, he moved to the Hyderabad Music University for higher studies in music. He passed the Sangeeth Bhushan music examination in the year 1968 from the Andhra Pradesh State Technical and Training Education Board and the Sangeeth Visharada examination in the year 1971 with a first class.
Considering his service to the field of music, many organisations have honoured him with awards and titles. A dream this musician nurtures is to take his music school to great heights and provide a good learning environment to his students.
