Suresh who inspected the documents said that CMC had set a target of Rs 3,29, 71, 838 to be collected as dues for the year 2007-08. But only Rs 58, 21, 589 was collected as dues. As result of this development works have been hampered in the city, Suresh added.
Last year government gave a grant of Rs 1.5 crore for the development works of the city. But only Rs 73 lakh was utilised.
When secretary questioned the CMC Commissioner for not spending the money Commissioner replied that asphalting of the roads had been carried on but the bill have not been cleared as result the money is left with the CMC.
“CMC has still now spent Rs 1.45 lakh from various sources. The CMC has paid PWD Rs 55 lakh for the asphalting of the roads. Another Rs 15 lakh has been given to Toilet construction centre. Rs 80 has spent to sunk borewells and for the corresponding laying of pipes and motors”, he added.
Sterilisation drive
“There are 3111 streets dogs in the city”, noted Suresh who said that a tender had been called to sterilise the dogs. The tender which has quoted Rs 700 per operation has been allotted the task,” expressed Suresh who said that sterilisation drive would begin soon to control the dog menace.
Ward Visit
Suresh visited ward no 2 of the city where a drinking water problem had arose. “Though two borewell had been sunk in the area no motor pump has been fixed on them as a result their is shortage of drinking water”, said CMC member from ward no 2 Srinath.
In a instant action Suresh directed Commissioner took in to the matter. City Planning Director Prabhudeva, Commissioner Kempaiah were present.
