Di suspected Dodi dad of spying
London, PTI:
Princess Diana feared that her boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayeds father spied on her during her stay on his luxury yatch, it was claimed.

Lady Sarah McCorquodale told the Princess of Wales’ inquest that her sister Diana had called her to reveal the suspicion shortly before she was killed in a car crash in a Paris tunnel ten years back.

“She (Diana) thought the boat was being bugged by Mr Fayed senior,” the British media reported on Tuesday, quoting Lady Sarah as testifying at the inquest on Monday.

Mohammed Al-Fayed, the Harrods boss, insists that Diana and his son were killed by the British secret service on the orders of Prince Philip because she was pregnant with Dodi’s child and the couple were about to get married.
But, Lady Sarah claimed that Diana’s relationship with Dodi was on its last leg.

“There had been an article in a French newspaper Le Monde about landmines. She was very upset because she felt she had been misquoted and as a result had appeared to look like she was criticising the government.
She was distraught. When I suggested to her to speak to Dodi about it, the Princess had replied ‘that would be a waste of time’. From that, I just did not think that the relationship had much longer to go,” Lady Sarah told the 11-member jury.

Marriage

However, she claimed that Diana and Pakistani heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan might have wed. “I believe there was a strong possibility that they might have married.”

Asked about how the couple’s two-year relationship ended in the summer of 1997 she replied, “He couldn’t take, if that’s the right word, her lifestyle and was a very committed surgeon and the two didn’t go together. I don’t think she believed the relationship was ended or she hoped it wasn’t.”
