Driver behind Selvis murder
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Vijayanagar police solved the mystery behind the murder of Selvi (40)  at Govindaraj Nagar by arresting three persons including the car driver who was the brain behind the plot.

Briefing reporters, Bangalore City Police Commissioner N Achutha Rao said Nagendra alias Rajendra (30), Muttharaju alias Raju (21) and Siddaraju (25), all residents of K P Agrahara were arrested.
Selvi’s husband N T Aras had sacked Rajendra a month ago. The driver was taking the dog out for walks and had access to the house.

Selvi (40) was murdered on January 22 night when her husband was away. During the course of the investigation, police learnt that N T Aras had sacked the car driver Nagendra alias Rajendra for being lax in his job. After the murder, he was not to be seen. A manhunt was launched and he was nabbed from his residence. On his revelation, police arrested his two accomplices, Siddaraju and Muttharaju.

For gain

The trio had allegedly murdered Selvi for gain. On that night when Aras left the house, the three went to his house. Siddaraju was deployed near the stairs to watch any visitor and alert Nagendra and Muttharaju who entered her house and asked for some water.

As Selvi went towards the kitchen, the duo assaulted her with a lamp and later she was smothered to death with a cushion, the police said.

After eliminating her, they then took away cash and valuables worth Rs 12 lakh. The criminals went to a vacant house at K P Agrahara and distributed the valuables, said the police.
