In harmony with self
Shruti I L
Succumbing to the pressures of a busy world, most of us have started walking away from our real self.

Even as we strive to meet the demands of our loved ones and the society, we are forgetting to take time off for ourselves.

Having realised this, dancer-choreographer Madhu Nataraj and the holistic healer from Sydney, Bindu Narula organised ‘The Goddess dances’, a holistic healing, movement and experiential creativity workshop for women, across two days in the City recently.

‘The Goddess’ workshop was about celebrating an important entity... You. It was an opportunity for women to slow down their pace and nurture their mind, body and soul. It was all about giving ourselves time to be, to reconnect with creativity, joy and self empowerment,” said Madhu and Bindu.

Through dance, movement, mime, yoga, meditation and other healing techniques, the 29 participants rediscovered the joy of connecting with their innate creativity and beauty. “The workshop was a secular setup that informed the women that they needed to do to go back with a strong sense of centre,” said Madhu.
The Goddess workshop reiterated the need to be in harmony with our spiritual, emotional and physical selves; to feel like a goddess, to love and pamper ourselves.

This concept was first created and premiered in Australia in 2007 by the duo, to reclaim the Goddess within and bring to the world - joy, love, hope, abundance, compassion, healing and wisdom. The Bangalore workshop is the first of its kind in the country. “We have had an overwhelming response and we plan to hold one such in Bangalore again in December. Plans are also on the anvil to organise workshops in Chennai and Mysore among other cities. We have also received an invitation to take the concept to Canada,” said Madhu.

Bindu and Madhu plan to design workshops on stress management, creativity and self-esteem for various target groups including children, corporate houses, women's organisations and holistic centres.
