The Department of Horticulture and the Mysore Horticultural Society presented The Leela Palace Kempinski with ‘The Best Ornamental Garden Award.’ This is the ultimate prize for special outstanding ornamental garden and The Leela Palace has received this award 14 consecutive times in the last seven years.
Mahesh V, Manager Horticulture and Landscape received the award recently at the award ceremony that was held at Dr M H Marigowda Memorial Hall, Lalbagh.
Exotic collection
Majestically surrounded by seven acres of lush gardens and a twinkling lagoon The Leela Palace has a collection of the finest seasonal plants, herbal nutrients and tools.
It boasts of 50 varieties of exotic rare palms, 30 varieties of exotic trees, 150 varieties of plants, ground cover, seasonal plants and three varieties of grass.
Apart from this, some of the main attractions are the Japanese garden, Ayurveda plants, lazy river, exotic water lilies and waterfalls.
The horticultural staff of The Leela Palace cares for the interior and exterior landscapes of the hotel, spending approximately Rs 30,000 on an average per month on maintaining the garden.
