Efforts to extend the facilities of mediation - a Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) method of resolving legal disputes in an amicable manner - to other districts of the State are on, said High Court judge and president of the governing body of Bangalore Mediation Centre (BMC), Justice S R Bannurmath.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday he said 14 advocates - two each from 7 other districts are already trained as mediators. Justice Bannurmath said, anniversary celebrations of BMC, launched on January 19 included a South India Conference on Mediation. The celebration will conclude on Feb 1, with a valedictory function to be attended by President Pratibha Patil.
‘Mediation Week’ will be observed from February 3 to 9, across the state. As part of this, model demonstration of mediation sessions will be organised at five districts having heavy case pendency - Mysore, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Tumkur, Mangalore - on February 8, he added.
