Four samples from K R Garden II Stage in Machalibetta showed residual chlorine limit of .8 each, while a sample from tap water at Machalibetta service station showed a limit greater than .1, a release said.
“Chlorine limit should be between .1 and .2 and should remain within .4,” said Mr Venkataraju, Chief Engineer (Maintenance), BWSSB. Higher limits do not pose any health hazard.
Samples taken from Neelasandra were checked for bacteria presence too and they showed negative for the presence of E.coli. The sample break-up is as follows: Fraser Town (6), Pillanna Garden (4), Machalibetta (6) and Neelasandra (6).
Some areas which were not provided water supply in Bharatinagar were supplied with it on Wednesday. Twelve more samples have been collected and their results will be declared on Thursday.
BWSSB also plans to clean up 40,000 manholes in the erstwhile BMP areas in the City starting Thursday.
