The Special Court for CBI cases on Tuesday convicted a former employee of Hotel Ashok and representative of a private business enterprise in Bangalore.
Former senior manager (civil) of Hotel Ashok, R K Das in 1997, in connivance with Ashok Raj, of a fictitious firm M/s Interiors India Ltd , Bangalore, awarded the contract of the renovation of 12 guest rooms in the star hotel, then under the India Tourism Development Corporation. The CBI (anti-corruption branch) had registered a criminal complaint against the two on September 1, 1997.
On investigation the CBI found that Interiors India was a bogus firm and that Das had awarded the contract to them without verifying their details.
